A specialised food company has been able to transform the capacity of its despatch area by installing a 210 square metre mezzanine floor, with a conveyor system and pallet gate, to enable the packing of products and marshalling of pallets.
The company had experienced significant growth in all areas of its business with new product lines being introduced and an increased number of clients to fulfill. This was impacting greatly on the production area and storage space for finished goods.
As a result of this, Thistle Systems was asked to use their Max the Cube approach to improve the process within their chilled facility.
Thistle designed, manufactured and installed the mezzanine floor, measuring 35 metres in length by 6 metres wide, and worked in conjunction with the conveyors’ supplier to deliver the finished solution.
The mezzanine enabled baskets of picked products to be safely and securely loaded onto pallets before being marshalled into an area ready for despatch onto wagons.
Thistle also took full responsibility for carrying out the mechanical and electrical works, including low energy LED lighting with PID sensors, which reduced the energy costs and provided a bright area to aid the accuracy of the picking thanks to the reflection with the white laminate finish of the boards.
