Thistle Systems has enabled one of Scotland’s largest distilleries to transform their label store by increasing capacity by over 48% to meet the growing demands of its bottling plant.
The client had previously been using static shelving to store various labels within a 32 square metre storage room. However, significant increases in their bottling processes required additional capacity and with the growth of the premium label and high-value export brands, they specified the need for a small section of secure storage.
Thistle worked closely with the client’s project team to understand the products being stored, the stock levels and the turnover, as well as the accessibility requirements before designing a bespoke High-Density Whisky Label Store.
The system incorporated 3 types of shelving with varying lengths and depths to maximise storage capacity and optimise the shelving to suit the products being stored. Thistle also upgraded the load capacity to 100kg per shelf to provide a robust storage solution which could accommodate the large rolls of labels sometimes required.
The bespoke High-Density Whisky Label Store is made up of high-density shelving units, mounted onto heavy duty mobile bases which then move along built-in rails. This enables the client to maximise the capacity of their storage solution within a smaller floor space.
To assist with positioning during storage, Thistle also incorporated dividers in key areas as well as providing lockable steel doors to protect high-value items.
