A major energy company has used the relocation of its facilities to maximise the capacity and efficiency of its operations with a fully integrated storage solution.
Thistle Systems were appointed to survey the new building and develop a storage solution that would maximise every cubic metre from day one, while providing secure storage for field engineers.
A key challenge was the diverse range of items requiring storage. A 182 square metre mezzanine was designed, with the upper level dedicated to bulky items such as pipe assemblies and oversized pallets, keeping them clear of day-to-day operations below.
The elevated mezzanine allows vehicle access beneath and includes mid-level stair landings to meet health and safety requirements, alongside two up-and-over pallet gates for safe goods transfer.
At ground level, pallet racking provides 192 pallet positions, alongside 40 linear metres of heavy-duty shelving with integrated timber decking, offering flexible storage for palletised, boxed and loose materials.
Seven high-security storage cages were also installed beneath the mezzanine, each with robust mesh panelling, a lockable door and dedicated longspan shelving, giving individual engineers secure space for tools, materials and work in progress.
The completed project transformed the previous facility, maximising available space while improving storage, organisation and day-to-day operations.
