Thistle Systems’ Max the Cube approach has enabled one of the UK’s leading refrigeration and air conditioning wholesalers to double their storage capacity withing their existing facility whilst ensuring they comply with the latest HSE requirements. The nature of the business meant the company was storing everything from 6 metre lengths of pipes to small components and their existing solution was quite literally creaking at the seams.
Thistle’s project team worked closely with the client to understand their requirements before designing a solution which featured a 39 square metre mezzanine floor with a combination of heavy-duty industrial shelving, longspan shelving and bespoke pipe racking. The mezzanine floor was designed to accommodate additional heavy duty shelving with timber decking and an equal load capacity.
As part of the project, Thistle also took full responsibility for securing the building warrant for the mezzanine floor, ensuring the designs complied with the necessary building regulations and liaising directly the local government office.
To maximise the storage capacity, Thistle Systems worked with the client’s project team to design a shelving configuration which optimised space utilisation and minimised dead space in the height and depth of the system.
Thistle also designed, manufactured and installed 2 bespoke shelving systems to accommodate the 3 metre and 6 metre lengths of pipes.
The finished solution provided the client with over 240 linear metres of shelving.
Thistle Systems also provided fully certified loading signs to meet the HSE requirements as well as to provide operators with guidelines on the maximum load capacities for each of the shelving.
