NHS Lothian was looking to convert a disused boiler house building into a archive storage for medical medical records. Thistle Systems therefore designed and developed a three tier archive facility for them.
As the second largest NHS trust serving a population of over 800,000, the client was looking to develop an archive storage for medical record which could meet the demands of its growing needs.
With an available floor space of only 288m2, Thistle Systems designed, specified and installed a storage solution that provided a total of 5654.25 linear metres of shelving over 3 levels. To ensure easy access of all medical records, Thistle installed a goods lift.
Prior to construction, Thistle were required to make good the internal area and put structural steelwork and durbar plates across service ducts in the effected areas to allow for the point loads imposed by the shelving. Thistle also installed lighting on all levels supported on all floors by open mesh walkways.
