pallets
stored using radio shuttle racking
Our client was investing heavily in the manufacturing and inspection process of their food operation in Dumfries and Galloway. As part of the investment, the company wanted to upgrade its existing storage facility which used bulk stacking on post pallets.

Up to 24 pallets deep to maximise capacity in cold store
The objective of the investment was to increase the storage capacity whilst reducing the footprint, improve accessibility and speed up picking times within its cheese cold stores.
After working closely with the project team, we proposed a solution which featured two separate radio shuttle racking installations.
Cheese store 1 features a FILO radio shuttle installation with a total of 2040 pallet locations made up of 17 pallets wide by 24 pallets deep and 5 pallets high. This provides a total of 85 picking faces. To maximize the utilization of the available space, we also moved an existing doorway to a new position.
Due to the existing bitumen floor surface, specialist footplates were designed and manufactured to spread the load going onto the floor to prevent any movement of the racks over time.
Cheese store 3 features a FILO radio shuttle with a total of 3700 pallet positions made up of 33 pallets wide by 19 pallets deep and 6 pallets high. We also incorporated an emergency exit tunnel into the cheese store to increase the health and safety of employees working in the area.
