Thistle Systems has enabled one of the country’s leading fruit merchant to double its storage capacity and provide the space to install a cold store facility by designing, supplying installing a mezzanine floor.
The fruit merchant supplies some of Scotland’s top hotels and restaurants and was looking to increase its storage capacity to meet growing demand for its products.
The 18.5 x 7metre mezzanine floor spanned the entire width of one of their units to provide 130 square metres of additional storage with two low ceiling high pallet (LCHP) pallet gates to allow products to be safely loaded and unloaded.
The mezzanine floor had to be 3.6metre high to tie into existing offices in a neighbouring unit as well as to accommodate the refrigerator unit below.
Thistle also arranged the building warrant on the project which required the fire stairs to feature a split landing due to the height of the mezzanine together with a protected lobby area to enable the adjoining office block to access the fire escape safely.
