Mezzanine Floor Doubles Capacity

A leading food and drinks company has doubled the storage capacity within their dry goods storage area thanks to a 20 metre by 9.6 metre mezzanine floor.

Block stacking has traditionally been considered the optimum approach for storing items such as packaging. However, the client was concerned with the Health and Safety risks associated with storing multiple pallets on top of each other, including personal injury and avoiding damage to the packaging.

And with a growing number of SKUs with shorter manufacturing runs, the company were looking for a solution to increase capacity whilst maximising access to all products.

Despite the relatively low floor-to-ceiling height, Thistle Systems’ specialist mezzanine floor team designed a solution that achieved the client’s objectives and ensured it was fully compliant with the latest building regulations.

The mezzanine featured a structural steel staircase with an up-and-over pallet gate and timber flooring.
