Levels of Cantilever Racking
Installed to dramatically increase capacity
Installed to dramatically increase capacity
of up to 6 metres via Cantilever Racking
at maximum of 1.8 metres high for safe handling by hand
Whilst the core focus of the Max the Cube approach is to maximize capacity and dramatically reduce operating costs, health and safety is at the very foundation of every part of the process.
So, when one of the UK’s leading distributors of building materials asked us to supply stillages to increase the capacity of pipe storage racking at their Scottish distribution centre, Thistle recognized a potential health and safety issue.
After discussing the full range of products being stored, a solution was proposed which used cantilever racking to store pipes up to 6 metres long. Capacity was maximised by optimizing the aisle widths to suit the side loader and 7 levels of cantilever arms were installed to accommodate the SKUs.Thistle also helped to design the flow of the product with individual pipes stored on the lower cantilever arms and packed bundles stored higher up.
A bespoke racking solution was designed to store shorter lengths and individual pipes and at only 1.8metres in height, the Maxi Cube Pipe Rack ensured all products could be easily accessed by hand.
As a result of the successful project, Thistle were subsequently contracted to install a two tier storage solution and a full office fit out.
