Thistle Systems has added another client to its portfolio in the food and drink sector with the successful design and installation of push back and drive in racking for Speyfruit’s new 6780 square foot cold store facility at their premises in Elgin.
Working closely with the management team to understand the exact requirements, Thistle’s Project Manager, Alan Scott, developed a solution that maximised the storage capacity whilst bringing the solution in under budget.
Alan explained, “With the running costs associated with cold store environments, most businesses look to maximise every inch of storage space and generally look at solutions such as mobile racking solutions, drive in racking and push back racking dependent on the budget available and the type of goods being stored.”
He continued, “With the varying levels of stock turnover that Speyfruit experiences, we proposed a solution that included push back racking for faster moving items and drive in racking for those items being held in storage for longer periods.”
The final solution provided Speyfruit with the total capacity to accommodate over 1000 pallets on 4 levels, with 30 lanes of 4 deep push back racking and 24 lanes of drive in racking which offered 6 pallet locations per lane.
