Thistle Systems has used its Max the Cube approach to transform the capacity and efficiency of an engineering store for an Aberdeen Oil Supplier with the installation of a two tier shelving system, on top of an existing concrete mezzanine floor.
After carrying out a full site survey, Thistle proposed a two tier shelving solution to maximise the available height in the building, dramatically increase capacity by 130% and improve picking times.
The nature of the existing mezzanine meant that the two tier had to be installed with absolute precision to ensure the loading capacity didn’t compromise the structural integrity of the offices below but thanks to Thistle’s design expertise and consulting with specialist structural engineers, this wasn’t a problem.
As part of the project, Thistle installed a combination of mesh panelling and full steel panelling as well as carrying out the installation of all lighting and the external staircase to provide access to the top tier. Thistle also carried out the necessary design and submission works to obtain the building warrant and to ensure the two tier complied with the latest building regulations.
