Thistle Systems has demonstrated its expertise in designing and installing mezzanine floors by overcoming the challenge of installing a small project with underfloor heating in the existing concrete slab
Thistle Systems has demonstrated its expertise in designing and installing mezzanine floors by enabling a global manufacturing company to extend an existing two-tier flooring system using a small mezzanine floor.
The project’s major challenge was developing a solution that worked with the underfloor heating system in the warehouse, which would prevent Thistle from using the traditional bolted floor anchors.
Working with their Structural Engineer, Thistle Systems developed a solution using a heavy-duty epoxy resin to provide an extra strong bond between the floor and the base plate.
This enabled the Mezzanine floor to meet the required load capacity without penetrating the concrete block and potentially puncturing the heating pipes.
The 25 square metre floor fits seamlessly with the existing structure and enables the client to add an additional 32 linear metres of storage accessed via the existing stair.
Thistle Systems also completed the work to successfully gain the Building Warrant to certify the new mezzanine and the existing two-tier floor.
